Cardinal Systems, Inc. Participates in National Safety Month (June, 2024)

Cardinal Systems, Inc. Teams are committed to working safe when creating our high-quality products. We could not create the products we do and run our operations efficiently without providing and maintaining a safe environment for our dedicated team members to thrive in. Ensuring all employees return home safely everyday is why safety is a valued and uncompromisable priority throughout the Company.
During National Safety Month (June, 2024) our Safety Team put together weekly safety talks with information and best practices that can be applied not only in our work environments, but to our personal lives as well. All Teams reviewed and discussed weekly topics including:
- SAFETY ENGAGEMENT
- ROADWAY SAFETY
- RISK REDUCTION
- SLIPS, TRIPS, AND FALLS
Health and wellness are key elements to safety and overall well-being, so weekly snacks were shared with all Departments to help maintain energy levels during the heat wave and busy-season rush. A new addition to the Safety Month initiative this year, our Safety Team also encouraged active participation in safety best practices and habits in employees’ professional and personal lives by asking everyone to complete activities related to the safety talks, writing a paragraph in regards to ‘Why We Work Safe’, and submitting photographs of safe working environments on the job and at home.
Safety remains at the forefront of everything we do. Continuous monthly tracking of safety goals and statistics within the Company are internally communicated so all employees know what to strive for. Monthly safety meetings are conducted company-wide by our Safety Team to keep everyone up to date with the most important terminology, best practices, and OSHA policies that are relevant to manufacturing. Our Safety Team is present on-site daily to address concerns, facilitate reports, and stop accidents before they happen.
Safety is all of our business, and we will remain committed to proving this through the safe and reliable end-products we create.
Check out some of ‘Why I Work Safe’ employee-written submissions below.
“Why do I work safe? I work safe because I live such an active life. I can’t afford to get hurt because of safety precautions I should have taken but didn’t. If I was to get hurt on the job how in the world would I keep up with my 18-month-old daughter? I also play softball on the weekdays, and I’d be super disappointed to miss out on the fun because I didn’t take my safety seriously. It’s just like stretching before my softball games, because I’m not getting any younger and I can’t afford to hurt myself because I didn’t take a couple minutes to stretch my body. Safety spares no expense, when it comes to safety taking a few minutes to make sure I’m working safely saves me days or possibly months or recovery. So, working safely is an absolute must in my eyes. “
“Working safely is paramount not only for my well-being, but also for the well-being of my co-workers and the success of our organization. Ensuring safety at work means I can return home to my family and loved ones in good health every day. This responsibility extends beyond personal health; it encompasses preventing accidents that could lead to injuries or fatalities, which would deeply affect the morale and productivity of our team. Additionally, adhering to safety protocols minimizes the risk of equipment damage and costly downtime, ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently. Embracing a culture of safety fosters a supportive and conscientious work environment where everyone feels valued and protected. It also reflects our commitment to upholding industry standards and regulatory requirements, which in turn enhances our reputation and trust with our current employees, future employees and our customers. Ultimately, working safely is about creating a sustainable and respectful workplace where everyone can thrive, innovate, and contribute to our collective success without fear of harm.”
“I’d be lying if I said that I experience gratitude non-stop throughout my day – after all, I am human. I wake up. I get ready for work. I get to work. Then, I work. I leave work. I go home. I enjoy my afternoon. I sleep… and do it all over again. And again. If I blind myself to all the beauty around me, I lose that feeling of gratitude. And there is beauty in everything for anyone who seeks it. I mean, something as insignificant as feeling the wind on my hand as I drive home from work and as important as kissing my family and seeing the joy on their faces when I get there. These types of beauties can be easily lost if I don’t redirect my perspective.
Now, here’s what I want you to do: Picture yourself in your daily life. What really matters to you? Whom do you choose to share your life with? Can you feel the beauty inhaled in a simple breath? Don’t ever take that for granted. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 5,486 work-related fatalities in the U.S. in 2022. Those 5,486 people can never again enjoy the wind on their hands, see the joy on their children’s faces nor take a simple breath. Safety becomes much more important when we put it into perspective, doesn’t it? Let’s stay safe and avoid becoming part of these statistics by implementing all workplace safety protocols.”

“I work safely so that I can go home each day and live my life to the fullest. If I get injured at work, I won’t be able to do all the things I love to do like going for walks, working in my flowerbeds, and doing volunteer work. Even the things I sometimes take for granted like walking and being able to move painlessly can be taken away in a moment if I am injured at work. I want to be healthy to help my 16-year-old son learn to drive because he just got his learner’s permit. I need to mow my mom’s yard each week because it’s too much for her to manage by herself. I work safely because I cannot afford to be injured. I need to keep working so that I can earn money to pay my bills and to pay for my son’s college education. I also work safely to set an example for my coworkers and to keep the environment around me safe so that no one gets injured. Working safely will keep both my work life and my home life happy.”
“I work safely for my friends and co-workers. It is important for me to return home each day the same way that I arrived at work that morning. My family depends on me. If I were to be injured because of doing an unsafe act, it could impact my family financially in addition to undo stress. I also work safely because I value my co-workers. It is everyone’s responsibility to keep their co-workers safe. It would devastate me if a co-worker were to get injured because of something that I did that could have been avoided if I would have done it safely. Your co-workers see how you work everyday, and it impacts them. You can influence your co-workers to work safely by being that example.”
“It was about early last year when we got the new forklifts. I didn’t know anything about them, so I thought to wing it figure it out on my own I was just looking for the battery charger you know to plug it up when the battery of the forklift came out fell onto my foot. Good thing I had on safety steel toe shoes because it was 3500 pounds. I was lucky I didn’t lose my foot, it only swelled up. Reasons like this is why work safety is important, this incident could have been worse the steel toe shoe saved my foot.”

Cardinal Systems, Inc. is committed to maintaining Safety as an uncompromisable, high-priority value everyday.
